JE History
The origins of what we know today as JE Pistons can be traced back to 1912 and the Los Angeles foundry of William Jahns Sr. and his company W.H. Jahns. Employing the tagline, “Nothing but Pistons,” the W.H. Jahns company produced pistons and semi-finished pistons until 1948, when Jahns Sr. retired. Meanwhile, Jahns’ son, William “Uncle Bill” Jahns Jr., started and had been working on his company Jahns’ Racing Pistons since 1947. Shortly after, the business became Jahns’ Engineering Pistons, and was finally shortened to JE Pistons.
Through the following years, JE Pistons’ technology evolved, from mastering casting technology in the 60s to researching and implementing forging technology in the 70s. Numerical Controlled (NC) machines were introduced to manufacturing in the early 80s, which was quickly improved to the use of Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) machines and a proprietary piston design and machining program in the mid-80s.

JE Pistons what do I do if some of the piston rings you sent me with the kit are too big of a ring gap. I should have a gap of .016 but on one it's .017 and on another it's .018. which is for blown race only

Have you tried dimpled piston tops yet to see if there is any advantage?
A very "basic" and "mild" VR38DETT build from our friends over at MotoIQ.com and it just happens to lay down 1,100 horsepower.
We are big fans of these VR engines. With the right combination, they’re capable of producing some big power numbers easily, with this setup being proof. A set of our forged pistons paired with BoostLine connecting rods helps turn this mild build into a serious performer with ease.

Nah them don't do anything on a normal budget everything has to come out and treat, boring.
Big thanks to Chip for choosing JE at the heart of his 1.8L rebuild. A fresh set of our five-valve forged pistons is locking down the bottom end, built to take real heat, real RPM, and real abuse. This motor will soon be finding its way into Chip’s Porsche 944, just in time for some well-earned track days where forged strength actually matters.
